
AN INSIGHT INTO
SADESO
SADESO
is structured to efficiently, effectively and economically facilitate
the needs of both the Department of Defence (DoD) and the DRI. In order
to do so SADESO has a three-tier structure, comprising a policy, executive
and transactional level. The responsibilities of each level are as follows:
The
Policy level is responsible for interpreting and giving input regarding
Government policy, major foreign policy, as well as taking into consideration
all industrial as well as economic initiatives and factors.
The Executive level is responsible for ensuring
that Policy level strategies and decisions are implemented and executed
by the Transactional level.
The Transactional level is responsible for the
execution of as well as reporting on strategies formulated by the Executive
level.
SADESOs AIM
On behalf of the South African Government and
by means of Government export support structures, initiatives and incentives,
to develop and facilitate a South Africa incorporated export drive,
geared to promoting export opportunities that will result in upliftment,
job creation and growth within the Defence Related Industry.
SADESO’s
MISSION
On behalf of the South African Government, through
the Ministry of Defence, to develop and implement export support services
and mechanisms that promote and benefit both the South African Government
and the South African DRI.

SADESO's
GOALS
- To,
by means of a South Africa incorporated approach, support the export
initiatives of Government and the Defence related Industry (DRI),
with a view to increasing the South African Defence Related Industry's
contribution towards the earning of foreign exchange, upliftment,
job creation and gross national product, while further promoting South
Africa as a world-class supplier of defence products and systems.

To support the DoD's preservation of strategic
and non-strategic technologies and capabilities.

To support the DoD by contracting, on their
behalf with the Defence Related Industry, all export support requests
for SANDF personnel, equipment, materiel aid and the use of defence
installations and facilities.
- To
formulate a South African Defence Related Industry Export Support
strategy for international markets as well as a National strategy
for an African Defence Industry development programme, based on South
African capabilities, in support of South African Government initiatives
such as SADC and NEPAD.
- To
facilitate mutual understanding and cooperation between the DRI and
the Department of National Conventional Arms Control.
- To
facilitate DRI involvement in the drafting of government-to-government
agreements and memoranda of understanding.

SERVICES
Although
SADESO has an established service portfolio, it does recognise that
being a service provider it is essential to render services that fulfil
the changing needs of its clients and stakeholders.
SADESO is therefore committed to providing a
dynamic export support service and invites prospective Clients to discuss
their export support needs with SADESO by means of activating the registration
form button below. This process will facilitate the formulation of a
cooperation agreement, which will enable SADESO to assign its resources
accordingly.
Although
a cooperation agreement is not a prerequisite to enjoy the export support
services of SADESO, it will contribute towards the efficient and effective
rendering of the following export support services:

secondment of SANDF personnel.

use of and access to SANDF facilities/installations.

and local shows and exhibition support rendered to the Defence Related

of the South African Defence Related Export Council.
